Services Committee Virtual Kick-Off Meeting

Dear Friends & Colleagues,

As mentioned in the cover note to the minutes dealing with our last “services breakfast without breakfast” in 2021, the time has come, not only to wish you, your families and your companies, one more time, a “HAPPY, HEALTHY AND SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR”, but also to set up our first Services Session for 2022.

Please block your calendars for Wednesday, January 26, (08:00AM till 09:30AM), to join AmCham’s longest running activity, the SERVICES COMMITTEE BREAKFAST, where you will be able to share expectations, concerns and new developments in your particular business environment, with highly professional colleagues from other sectors, who are - just like you - working hard to make a difference, and to guarantee progress and positive developments, as far as our adopted business environment is concerned.

In hoping that we will also be attracting a bunch of new, first time committee members, let me just briefly outline how the services session works. We always start on time, and tend to end the session as close as possible to the 09:30AM mark. By then we tend to have heard, in a casual, around the table manner, how things are moving within the broadest possible services spectrum, covering banking, insurance, hospitality, security, the real estate and moving sectors, tax and other accounting firms, information technology, communication, legal activities, education, transportation, HR , all kinds of consultancies, embassy input, the list goes on.

I just function as a “conductor”, while the actual value of the event is guaranteed by the participants who, actually, are responsible for the committee’s continued success. Unfortunately, we still have to rely on technology and thus the ability to run "the services breakfast without breakfast” via ZOOM, but eventually, we hope to get back to our meetings at the American Club, enjoying a nice breakfast, a nice cup of coffee and a great opportunity to network, face to face, as has been the case for years, before the Covid drama kicked in.

What I ask everybody is not only to give a brief and concise verbal presentation, but also to share with me, afterwards, a short, written summary of the input, so that I can then put together the minutes that are intended to serve as a simple but meaningful summary of the event. Rounding out the picture, we will have our Operations Director, Patricia, as always, “taking the temperature” of the business environment we are representing, and determining the degree of optimism, pessimism and uncertainty as far as 2022 is concerned!

I hope that we are going to have another well attended ZOOM session, and guarantee that the office, having received your confirmation to attend, will provide the link for all of us to join the meeting. Please though, do me the favor not to register your participation if this is just a casual “maybe”, so that our expectations regarding the turn out are not undermined by unexpected “no shows” on the 26th. The office will provide you with the registration instructions, as part of this invitation here.

So, all the best, and see you on the 26th, at 08:00AM, sharp ….
